Find Bungalows in Kep, Cambodia

Regular bus will take you forever! Be ready with your allergy pills the place is so good to enjoy sea foods - crab especially, shrimps/prawn, fishes and squids (very sweet). There are also lots of fruits to choose from which you can take with you when sightseeing. Don't forget to visit one of the 200 Kampot pepper farms - I recommend Sotheya's Farm, very accommodating to tourist and for serious gardener!

Great beaches at what I'll call city-center. Many interesting and inexpensive restaurants at the crab market (go for the Crab Amok) and a fair number of curious French villas, now burned out, but since the 90's owned by "a guy" who, according to the Lonely Planet, bought up the property in hopes of turning it later on, though when, remains mysterious. I'd go to Kep for holiday, no problem, no second thoughts; just do it and have a great time.

The West end with the beach and crab market is full of Westerners, the only locals being staff. The East end appears to be 100% local, we went to the market and had delicious street food and really enjoyed watching the cook make fresh rice paper for the nems over a wood fire. In between the 2 Keps is - a National park (fun if you do a hard trek with ropes, but be ready to sweat! Pleasant but somewhat dull if you walk the main road). - statues, some colonial, some kitch. - miles of empty huts and hammocks and "parkland" on the riverfront - crumbling villas and grounds deserted by the French in the 50s - cattle grazing on "parkland" and in abandoned grounds We had some nice swims and great sunsets, but overall Kep feels like a place trying to live up to a very distant former glory. And that is what I find most interesting about the place!

Fish and crab markets are worth a visit. Get a bike and go exploring. Not really much to do in town except rest. Villagers friendly. Kep was one of the most expensive places we stayed at, although Cambodia generally was more expensive than we anticipated.

There is not a lot to do here and that is exactly what I loved about it. A stroll down the beach at sunset, a great seafood dinner in the many restaurants near the crab market, or a dip in the sea are what Kep is known for. The locals are extremely friendly and helpful and really go out of their way to make visitors feel welcome. There is not much nightlife or shopping here, so if that's what you want, I would recommend somewhere else. But for relaxing, clearing your mind, and enjoying some peace and quiet, there are not many venues in SE Asian that are better than Kep.

. It was extremely uncomfortable i was lucky i was with my dad.. I currently live in Phnom Penh and have never encountered feeling this unsafe and uncomfortable. I couldnt bring myself to swim at the beach and i had to cover myself to get into a hotel pool.. even eating lunch i was uncomfortable.. I was suitably dressed for most of cambodia in shorts to my knees and a t-shirt.. I would never recommend goingto kep to anyone there is nothing nice there the markets are horrible food markets of fermented fish etc.

It has been an awesome morning!

But it is probably one of the cleanist and most relaxing places to stay in Cambodia. The old french villa's that are being overtaken by the forest are amazing. I would recommend a stay before they are demolished. The crab market is a lovely place to eat right on the ocean and the sailing club is a must for dinner. Located 20min from Kampot it makes a good base to stay and relax for a few days.

You could even visit Kep for a day from Kampot. The town of Kep is filled with French expats and we felt out of place and kind of looked down upon because we dont speak french.

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing spot Kep is ideal.

We stayed at Vanna Hill resort and wished we had have known about the LedZep cafe and the national park less than 300m away from us. There is a running club based at this cafe with good maps of fire and rainforest tracks to walk and run on. If we return to Kep i will try to meet up with the local Kep Running Club members for a run. they look to be 2.4 to 17 Km runs.

This will ruin the quaintness of the area. The roads leading to the city are 2 lane and currently in repair. It just makes no sense to ruin the quaintness of the place with wide roads and little else

The national park is worth a look too.

the other area I really enjoyed is the Crab Market. The food was GREAT.

For couples, Kep is enough romantic and wild for too.

No raging party activity and no night life to speak of. Very peaceful place and beautiful scenery. Variety of accommodation available but some very up market boutique places emerging from the ruins of country villas both colonial era and 1960s. Please visit and appreciate it for what it is - no changes require here.

From Kep to Phnom Penh is about 2 hours 30 minutes (depending on traffic). Kep is very quiet during the week (Mon-Fri)

Then relax and only lave your hammock/sun lounger to go to the crab market and indulge in crab with green pepper. For a bit of exploring visit the Kep National Park or take a tuk tuk ride to the nearby (around 40 minutes away) pepper plantations. The beach is not a beauty but ok for a few days. Take a trip to Rabbit Island for the better beach experience.
