We stayed Thanksgiving night. Had a great room overlooking the river, enjoyed happy hour and the big breakfast, as well as the hot tub. Facilities were wonderful and the staff were very gracious.

The hotel was right off the highway, literally there. So it was noisy. Also at 2:30 in the morning people are down below standing on the sidewalk talking rather loud. Woke us up and I turned the air down to have a kick in and make noise. Also, had a smell of smoking from previous users.
The light switches didn't work, and the windows were unlocked. Overall, the stay was disappointing for the cost of the room in Des Moines.
Breakfast was good, waffles and other assorted foods. Beds were comfy and the pool was fun

Our family was very pleased with the accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express Des Moines at Drake University. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was very nice to be so close to the University.
