Great and convenient stay ”
Had a great stay at the Gibbon Guesthouse. Friendly staff gave me a lift from the airport and gave me loads of recommendations about things to do. Loved the privacy and comfort of my sleep pod. John the owner was very helpful and even took us all out to a night market. Facilities were good and hostel was very conveniently located, with lots of DVDs for those who just want to relax!

Great place to spend a few nights”
Cheap; great location near Chinatown; super comfy beds and pillow in pod style bed meaning good level of privacy. The owner was such a great guy - super relaxed, happy to offer help and even gave us a free lift to the bus station! Wifi good enough for simple surfing which is fine given there's plenty to see and do in Kuching and around. Highly recommend this hostel

Nice place, stayed at a few hostels and hotels around Kuching, this one was my favourite. The owner, John, was very welcoming and will point you in the direction of some cheap beer. The showers were very good!

Great hostel but not clean enough”
Pros: the mixed dorm is very quiet during the night even though the window faces the street; there's a fridge in the lounge room where you can put some food, fruits or drinks which is very handy when you are tired and don't want to go out to buy some groceries; the location is close to many visiting sites and shopping malls. The downside of this hostel is the general cleaning maintenance. Whoever does the cleaning is not done properly and the manager or owner of this place doesn't check it or doesn't care if the cleaning is done well!!! The two washing basins to the right of the entrance to the toilets and showers where there is a big mirror on the wall have not been cleaned for months as they are disgustingly dirty! I was here for a week and wouldn't go there not even to wash my hands!!! I hope the owner reads this comment and does something about it!!

Great place to sleep”
John, the owner, isn't around lots but he's got 2 other businesses across the alley and checks in frequently. He doesn't keep the hostel very full and the beds are fully curtained/walled off so it's a pretty quiet place to rest after exploring the many things there are to do in the area. John helped me to book transportation and kept the same bed for me with several check-ins, which was really nice.

Great stay, better host”
Stayed a few nights and really enjoyed the hospitality of John. He owns a few business in the area and is eager to help you in any way. Coffee and toast are free in the morning and the bathrooms stayed clean. He also has a slew of recent movies for you to watch. Just ask John!

Cosy, cheap & full package”
Its my second stay here. The boss is nice & helpful, got locker with padlock, unlimited biscuits, got plenty of movies DVD for u to watch, cosy bed, own light & sockets, near to Medan pelita, bus stop to Bako is in walking distance (near museum)

Clean place, appetitable breakfast, the only thing I didn't like was the size of the pod (being a six footer) and the feel of ventilation inside the pod (the covering curtain is thick rather than the thin type).

Stayed only 1 night. Staff and the owner, John, were friendly and extremly helpful and shared a lot of advices. Facilities were basic and clean. Breakfast/Snacks are accessable 24/7
