Impressed by more than just location”
The hotel was stylish and as classy as the name implies. Even better, the staff were so eager to help and do anything to make our stay comfortable. They also gave great advice on how to explore the city. I was surprised with just our "classic" room. It was large, nicely appointed and worth much more than the price I paid. I booked this hotel so have a place to stay after arriving in Genoa by train. I would book this hotel now, for any reason I need to visit the city!

Good location in proximity of one of the city's main railway stations. Rooms are small, The Grand Hotel Savoia offers an excellent breakfast buffet. The lobby bar is attractive.

Nice room but not much facilities”
I stayed in Genoa for 1 night, and chose the Grand Savoia because of it's close proximity to the train station. I can't comment much on the staff service because it is a short stay. For those who booked online and the 'Spa' package is not included, you would have to pay 25Euros per person if you want to use the spa, sauna etc, which is not worth it. Otherwise, the only facility you can use is the 2 outdoor jacuzzi which are located on the 7th floor.

Best you can do in this town.”
Probably the best you can do in this North African city. You'll never want to venture far from hotel, and the train station is across the street, so you can beat a hasty retreat when you want to leave. Nice room, friendly staff, nice spa, great rooftop with view. Good value for the money.

Good city centre hotel”
Good location for train and airport bus, a 15 minute walk from historic parts of city. Nice old grand hotel that has been kept up to date in bathrooms and air conditioning and has character. Would stay again.

Top quality centrally located hotel”
We stayed at this excellent hotel for 2 nights before a cruise. It was an excellent 5 star hotel very centrally located close to the railway station and airport bus. Also close to the cruise port. We took a taxi to the cruise terminal which is walkable if you are fit. We learned the hard way that you must establish the fare before you get into a cab. Nothing to do with the hotel but beware.

greatest service out of 6 hotels I stayed in Italy”
I travelled for 10 days in Italy and stayed at 6 different hotels and this hotel was the best one in terms of food, service, amenities etc. The hotel seems to have been renovated. The breakfast was good and a wide selection of food. Also the hotel is very close to the station, which was crucial as we wanted to visit Portofino.

Beautiful Hotel with a good location”
The hotel is set on the hill and is of a classic older style. The sitting room comes with that perfect older gentleman serving drinks whilst you reclines in the very comfortable seating. The room itself was spacious enough and the bed and linen were first class.

Great hotel let down by thieving housekeepers ”
This was our second visit to this hotel. We enjoyed the room, facilities, spa and food so much the first time we decided we would definitely come back and stay again when in Genoa. We had a great stay from start to finish, the spa is a real pleasure to use and a great addition to the hotel. Unfortunately, due to my own fault I left my rather expensive swim shorts drying in the bathroom when I checked out, an hour later when I realised what I had done I phoned the hotel to ask housekeeping to put them to one side. Obviously housekeeping had no record of any items left in the room and pocketed some rather nice vilebrequin shorts for their husband/partner/son/significant other. Reception didn't want to know when I went back to the hotel, emails to the hotel have been answered. My only advice, keep all of your valuebles locked up when housekeeping visit.

Standard City Hotel”
The Grand Savoio Hotel in Genova is located a bit outside from the main city center. Staff was friendly and helpful with the parking. There is a nice rooftop bar with great city views. However the rooms are quite small and exposed. Any neighbours/passenger were able to see in out room.

nice hotel but all a little bit strange and in need of tlc”
The hotel itslef is clean and well presented, staff are very friendly and the update that they have done is a really nice theme. However it is not quite finished really, upstairs on the roof looks like Miss Havishams bridal tea and the pirate ship for children was quite franlkly dirty. The rooms themselves are wonderfully clean and quite big but they are dark and strangely laid out; which is fine but weird. food and beverages are overpriced and the main bar is again themed beautifully with the sea in mind but dirty overall. we had a great stay and the staff were lovely but much like Genoa a lick of paint and some tlc wouldn't go amiss here.

Stayed there for two nights with my boyfriend. Nice hotel with friendly staff and lovely rooms. Not too far from restaurants and shopping. The breakfast was good, and worth the money.

Warm and luxurios hotel with a view”
Lovely hotel with great straff, beautiful rooftop restaurant with cozy hottubs and a stunning view over the ocean and industrial harbour. Amazing place to stay if you have a car or don't need to leave the hotel, as the area isn't great for walking in the evenings or finding a close by beach - then rather enjoy the downstairs Hamam spa and pool.

Contrast extraordinaire !”
5 stars should include a swimming pool, the reception staff were well trained, polite & helpful although the 7th floor bar area was virtually unmanned and not at all convivial. Surrounding area was a ghetto in parts and the old harbour was ugly and depressing. An grand opulent hotel in a once prosperous city-hotel still in good shape but surroundings in decline and unsafe to stroll. One or two decent eateries on the doorstep but venture further at your peril.

What at shocker”
We stayed one night at the Grand Hotel Savoia and thankfully, it was only one night. The only positive thing I could say about this hotel is that it is close to the train station if you arrive by train. The first impression at the front desk was far from warm and welcoming. I showed the receptionist my Agoda booking slip and she merely handed it back to me, took copies of our passports, credit card and gave me the key with out a word. The next impression was the room. I booked an Executive room. I dont know who took the professional photographs, but they are brilliant. The room is no where near as attractive and spacious as shown. Next, the air conditioning was not working and it was a 30 degree day. I called the reception and it seemed to turn on. The hotel faces west and there is an external electric blind. It would not come down more than half way. I called reception and they promised to have someone look at it when we went out. I went to reception to ask for another key and was served by a gentleman in a paint stained shirt. When we returned from going for a walk, I hit the switch for the blind and the fuse blew and the whole room went black. Enough is enough, they sent someone up to fix, but he suggested we change rooms. They moved us to a family room which was larger. However, there was one small air conditioning duct which was totally inadequate for the room. I asked them to increase the air flow, they said they would, but when we returned from dinner, it was still warm. The only thing we could do was open the windows, which let all the sounds and light into the room, hence very little sleep. Glad to finally leave and as they say, I have now been there twice, first and last.
