In my view, the swimming pool is one of selling point of the hotel, this area should be well maintained, at least the staff should clean it before opening to the public.

The hotel is situated right across the Ita Thao Visitor Center and we had the perfect view of the serene lake from the comfort of our beds. The room is immaculate, food is delicious, and the service is exceptional. Austin is the best host ever! We got so much more than its price. My girlfriend and I stayed on the 6th floor in a very spacious suite with a king bed. The hotel itself has a nice dining room for breakfast and dinner, which we received complimentary during our stay each day. The meals were decent and very filling. There's also a small fitness room and a bar downstairs. The entire hotel was impeccably clean, although a bit dated. The staff is always there to help and was friendly, fulfilling every one of our requests. They were very helpful in recommending what we should do nearby and making our stay comfortable. The room itself was also very clean and spacious — large living area with couches, 2 TVs, a large standalone bath tub with air jets, bath salts provided (big plus for us), shower, and an advanced Toto toilet with heated seat. Lots of toiletries provided as well like razors. There was also a balcony with a table and chairs with awesome views! Free WiFi provided throughout the hotel. The room itself could use a few minor fixes here and there, but in general was great. The location is phenomenal — a few steps from the pier where you can access ferries across the lake (we were in the off season, but the hotel offered daily unlimited tickets for just $100NT!), the town itself is a bit sleepy, but all kinds of shops for trinkets and food. There's a handy 7-Eleven open 24 hours right around the corner. The aboriginal village and theme park is a great place to go and the gondola picks near the hotel (about a 10-15 min walk). This area was nicer than the main port where shuttles drop off visitors, as it was less "tourist-y" and a bit quieter. We did have to go across the lake into the main port for more lunch options though. Overall, we had a very pleasant, peaceful, and relaxing stay. We highly recommend this hotel and the suite room!!

it was such a treat for the senses to stay at the lalu... calming, soothing, and quiet with every detail, from the architecture to the service. in our opinion, the best way to enjoy sun moon lake is from the massive patio of one of lalu's lakeview suites. things that stand out... our very warm welcome to the hotel nearly put me in tears by the time we were guided to ...it was such a treat for the senses to stay at the lalu... calming, soothing, and quiet with every detail, from the architecture to the service. in our opinion, the best way to enjoy sun moon lake is from the massive patio of one of lalu's lakeview suites. things that stand out... our very warm welcome to the hotel nearly put me in tears by the time we were guided to our room to see the unbeatable view of the lake, music created especially for the hotel, the old bonsai tree on our patio, viewing and listening to the rain, very comfortable bed, borrowed art books from their library, hot bath overlooking lake from suite, cool dip in the heated infinity pool, delicious dinner at their western restaurant (we were told, headed by a canadian chef), a kind send off before we were shuttled back to the bus station.

Also, there are dense fog that engulf the lake quite often and if you are rushing for your next bus out of Sun Moon Lake to the HSR station, please do remember to give yourself a couple of hours advance notice.

The Tan Hui Hotel was certainly smaller than I expected, but that did not take away from it's charm. It is clean, and the 2 women and 1 man that run it (a family?) were so helpful and kind. The youngest woman (the daughter?) speaks a little bit of English, although it wasn't really necessary for our stay. The breakfast in the morning was good, although I wish I had gotten bacon on my second day, like I did on my first.

Breakfast can be improved, they do not have much variety and consist of bread, porridge and some local dishes. I had an excellent time in Sun Moon Lake and a large part is due to the wonderful hostess, Nisa, at Sun Moon Inn. The strongest reason of why I stayed here was due to the lovely and airy interior in the room and in the atrium. I was not disappointed. I chose the room facing the greenery which had the large extended window bench seat. It was gorgeous! I chose the room facing the greenery which had the large extended window bench seat. It was gorgeous! It is street-facing so be prepare for a bit of noise during the day, it is quite quiet at night. While the building does not have stairs and I stayed on the third floor, the driver Nisa recommended to me was kind enough to carry my suitcase up to my room. They currently do not have a kitchen and are unable to serve food but I am told that they are extending the building and is planned to be completed next year around October. Nisa was very thoughtful and brought up tea to my room on several occasions. She would also help to recommend places to go, how to get there, and what to eat. She and her family live on the second floor and warmly greeted me each time. Nisa does not speak English but she uses a translator app. Her husband speaks fair English. I communicated in broken Mandarin and Google Translate. Everything worked out well! Sun Moon Inn is very well located and is in close proximity to food, the wharf, post office, visitor center, bike route, buses, and the Maolan Mt hiking trail. I would definitely stay here again!

Our high-floor with lake view of the ferry boat jetty, expansive lake and painting-like mountains afar is simply a gorgeous view to behold! However it was a pity during our 2 day stay the clouds were blocking the sunrise due to the season. The room is definitely spacious enough for 2 travelers and the attached balcony although narrow in width sufficiently provided space to sit on a chair enjoying a sip of hot drinks while admiring the beautiful lake scenery. Due to the festivals we felt the hotel was inadequately staffed as our room’s house-keeping was skipped the next day. The waterflow lever transition between bath tap and showerhead was very different from the instructions pasted on the wall, perhaps it might help if the staff could advise on this issue during check-in.
