Wonderful hotel”

Images don't show whole beauty of this hotel, and I mean it. While choosing a hotel to stay in Florence, I wanted something old-fashioned, Italian, something authentic. This hotel seemed to be like that, however, I was afraid to arrive at the room with rubbed furniture. But when we entered a lobby and saw the celling, floor, furniture, we seemed to be in a fairytale. This is a real Italian palazzo with amazing atmosphere and friendly service. It has its old-fashioned "fleur", but it doesn't look old or rubbed. Decent breakfast with a good choice, very kind and helpful staff, amazing location. This is the place to be in Florence, so I highly recommend this experience.

Too comfortable to get up for breakfast”

actually extended stay 3 more days since having such a good time in florence. room 115 was possbily one of the oddest rooms in the hotel, on a landing by itself next to the kitchen making breakfast, and it was still good. hotel is typical of city hotels in italy - street presence is extremely understated but interiors are very grand. room for breakfast would not be out of place in one of the celebrated art galleries. one night we had after dinner drinks on the hotel roof looking over the city - very good. problems? shower stall seemed to leak profusely and was only contained by tactical towel plugging. shower head (handheld type) had disconcerting tendency to fall and hit my head - got daughter twice and me twice and a near miss. oddly, it would most often jump free when the water was turned off.

Although we got a great deal on the hotel, it definitely doesn't feel 4 star. The room was tiny, and although the bathroom was quite nice, there was no hot water for the morning shower (that was not fun), and we had no shower curtain or door so water got everywhere. We traveled with some friends who had a child with them, and they received a beautiful, large room with deck and a great view. Fantastic deal for them, but they had no hot water either. Only stayed one night, but I would only go back if I could get a better room (a little bigger) and if they could guarantee me some hot water!! The location, however, is perfect. Right in the center of Florence by the Duomo and all the attractions.

Great Location”

The hotel is situated less than 5 minutes from the Duomo and the Train station. Our room was clean and fairly spacious but lacked tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast, which was included, was good with plenty of options. The staff were all very helpful and cannot be faulted. Overall and enjoyable stay at a reasonable price and I would stay there again.

Boutique Charm”

This hotel is most likely stunning in the summer, as they have large courtyards, they have an amazing ballroom with 6 feet high paintings and the culture and art is everywhere in this hotel. The breakfast room is cozy with bubbly available for a very nice morning start, it is quite romantic with a European charm, the hotel is a bit old though, and you should ask for a room in the new wing, as they had a little bit of plumbing issues. Oh and be prepared to have not so great service when you check in, or if you need to change room due to plumbing issues.

Great hotel and service”

Excellent hotel with wonderful view of the Duomo. Had problems with Agoda but when I contacted the hotel directly they were fantastic and responded to my emails promptly. Great breakfast included. The staff were wonderful and even brought a bottle f wine to our room for my birthday.

Old Gem-Needs Some Repairs”

it's a beautiful hotel, the building is new and needs repairs in the rooms and the actual hotel. The breakfast is VERY low quality, bad food and very little. The hotel itself is great for the price, staff are nice and helpful.

Great location”

Location was excellent, walking distance to train station & comfortable walking distance to all the wonderful sights Florence has to offer. This hotel has once been very grand & even though it is quite tired now it has some beautiful furniture & wall hangings still present. The breakfast room is very grand with beautiful painted ceilings.

Good location”

good location but lack basic hotel features like porter service when we had to check out at 6am. we had to carry our luggage (6 pieces) ourselves down a flight of steps. i would like to express my dissatisfaction at agoda booking system when i booked boscolo astoria hotel through website. at the point of booking, the website quoted a rate of eur per room night, so for 2 nights, i should be charged eur . however, i was charged . i very much doubt that the exchange rate was 1 eur = usd. there was no mention of any other surcharges.

We would highly recommend the Boscolo Astoria the service was good, the rooms were very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and the rooftop bar was a very nice place to sit and overlook the city and have a glass of wine in the evenings.

classic european hotel but arrogant”

Classic european style hotel! I love it at the first sight, but then it's getting worse and worse with it's service! u can feel that the staff's attitude is: "Well, if u don't come, there will be always someone come...". even though i already know the breakfast is not included, but it didn't even have Tissue paper, mug, wine glasses, wine opener, water broiler. and when u call room service for wine glasses, u have to call 3 times with no one answer, waiting for 15 minutes to have someone answer ur phone, then their answer is.... "If you want me to bring u wine glasses, u have to pay for service charge 5 EURO, but if u come down to get it yourself, it's free..". MY GOD! it's NOT a youth hostel! and it's NOT the way to talk to ur guests! on top of that, that waiter was even so Arrogant arguing with me after I told him "3 times" that i need "4 WINE GLASSES" but he brought me "2 WINE GLASSES"!! besides, only one staff in the reception most of time, even tho there are 5 people waiting in line. AGAIN, no doubt about GREAT LOCATION, GREAT HARDWARES, but BAD SERVICE AND ATTITUDE! i said that because i have travelled in Italy at least 50 times!

Grand Lobby but unimpressive rooms; need a refresh”

we were greated in the grand lobby, which has a distinctive feeling of old-time class. the elevator to the rooms was more representative of the rest. worn-out, it looked like it had been renovated 20 years ago. the room itself was in the same situation. it was ok but would need a refresh. also, the terrace was closed when we were there so we couldn't check it out. the only good thing was the breakfast "ballroom", a decay from the old pallazo.

Staff steals ”

Stayed only for one night but were pretty disappointed as staff stole some of the souvenirs we bought in Siena the day before. Very frustrating and I would recommend to not let the housekeeping clean your room! Location wise it’s great and the hotel is clean. The rooftop bar is the only highlight. I would even bring my own bottle up there. Drinks are nothing special and service sucks.
