            Perfect combination of modern&primitive simplicity”

            architecture, hidden culture, eco-friendly measure.

I was so recommended by my friend that Qin Inn is a hidden gem, and it proved true. I am kind of environmentalist and Qin Inn perfectly practice eco-friendly measures and at the same time provides high-standard lodging. As tourists, I believe we should really travel with minimal impact and participate as much as possible. Qin Inn try to promote the idea of reducing energy consumption, through fluorescent lighting or by asking tourists to reuse towels, and bring our own toiletries; all in all, this Green Practice should really be respected. I suddenly believe that not everyone can tell its priceless value, for it is so special and only for those who truly care about culture preservation and environment protection; it is so great to have a chance to talk with the owner of the Inn and share thoughts. Qin Inn is an old beautiful historical building. In order to preserve the old house’s own character and quality, the inn has different use zoning restriction, so that they minimize the use of certain area, but we can still appreciate the art work inside. This is a real model for carrying forward culture preservation and sustainability . I have this amazing experience staying in an museum-like house, enjoying the well-equipped modern facilities in this well-preserved traditional house. I definitely come back again and highly recommend Qin Inn to those who care and are willing to experience a real culture travel.

            Beautiful traditional guesthouse”

The atmosphere, the bed, the owner and staff (both very kind and helpful)

I had a wonderful stay, Qin Inn is located in Shuitou village, which is very close to the Shuitou ferry pier (for travel to Xiamen, Quanzhou, or Little Kinmen). In order to visit other places in the island or even to find a place to eat, a motorbike or car is necessary - its 3 kilometers to the nearest town of 金城. But the staff were very helpful in arranging a motorbike, and the rental place even picked me up at the guesthouse, and then took me to the ferry pier after I returned the bike. My one complaint about Qin Inn is that the windows of my room did not close (itself not a problem), and the screens on these windows had some small holes. My last night, after a heavy rainstorm, the mosquitoes in my room became quite unbearable as I tried to sleep. This seems like a pretty easy fix, and besides this I had a wonderful stay and enjoyed my time in Kinmen.

Fabulous heritage house with modern conveniences”

            Meticulously restored heritage house

Qin Inn is arguably the most beautiful and meticulously restored heritage house in the most beautiful village of Shui Tou on the island of Kinmen, Taiwan just 30 minutes by ferry from Xiamen, China, but a world away. Entering this fabulous heritage house with intricate wood paneling with gold detailing, full of antique furniture and items will transport you to another era. It was built by the Tsai family in 1930 who had made their fortune in Indonesia. Chiang Lin, the friendly guesthouse host, is skilled in antiquity restoration from Taipei. He did a marvelous job in restoring this Minnan (Fujian) style house in front joined to a baroque style tower at the back. A seamless architectural union of the east and the west. It is quiet and an ideal getaway. You can relax in the library room upstairs to soak up the Inn's ambiance or sit in the open-air balcony with fabulous view of the village. A self-catering kitchen is available. Amenities in the bedroom/bathroom are Western and modern with air-conditioning. The bedding is very comfy. The house is a few minutes' walk to the bus stop where No. 7, 7A and 7B bus with take you to the ferry pier in 5 minutes and to the town of Kincheng in 20. Bus every 30-60 minutes from 6:30 am to 8:30 pm. I would give it a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. The only little thing that prevents it from getting full mark is that Wifi is only available at the dinning/reading room. The host said he is going to fix the signal repeater to solve the problem, hopefully soon.

            Charming B&B Inn, like home”

Tasteful decor, very comfortable bed and blanket, cozy and clean.

Arriving at Qin Inn one is immediately transported back to the old times in Jinmen, when life was simple and relaxed and time passed by slower, yet inside all the comforts and amenities of modern home living are available. The beds are comfortable, and so are the sofas in the living room and upstairs study. The upstairs study and patio is perfect for reading a book or having a drink at night. Everything is tastfully decorated with attention to detail. Mr. Chiang the inn keeper, makes a good rice porridge for breakfast, and prepared fresh ground coffee beans for us to make our own espresso coffee.

            Impressive Inn”

            Staff, design, location

Qin Inn is a traditional inn preserving the great things in Kinmen's culture and the design is impressive too. Not really suitable for city animals like us XD especially when you are going back at late night as it's not in downtown (but you'll have no problem using public transportation at all if you're going out and back during daytime)....but very comfortable and special place to stay. The staff have been very friendly and nice, thankful. Generally an awesome place to stay, highly recommended!~

            Beautiful Dynastic Style Inn ”

            Building, staff, rooms

A lovely stay with really helpful staff who gave us breakfast even though we got up at 11 and put us in touch with a place to rent bikes (which are probably advisable as Kinmen buses are cheap but infrequent and taxis can be hard to get). Not the easiest place to find and I'd suggest going by taxi if arriving from the airport and although walkable from Shuitou Port a driver can help you find the place (it's not named or numbered - look for a business card posted on the door). It's located in the tiny village of Shuitou and probably not the place if you're looking for partying as everything was closed by 9pm, however for a relaxing break it's perfect for singles, couples or friends and is very close to access for a day trip to Xiao Kinmen (Lieyu). The Inn itself is styled like a Chinese Dynastical Residence (not sure if genuine period building or later copy - but great either way) and incredibly beautiful with large, spacious rooms, ensuite and big comfortable beds. There is a decent kitchen and courtyard common area too. While not cheap it is certainly value for money and was kept very clean. Would certainly go back.

charming heritage building with modern amenities”

Interior design, boutique hotel, friendliness, price

Even I had seen photos before, this well preserved historic building still took my breath when I entered. I was very well received and treated throughout the stay. Almost everything was fantastic. The room was spotlessly clean. The bed was so comfy and having a powerful shower so that I could relax well after a long day sightseeing. Very warm and friendly welcome from staff and the owner. They went out of their way to help me have a good trip. Breakfast is delicious and the whole stay was excellent value for money. Simply amazing. Fantastic location, close to bus stop for Shuitor Pier or Jincheng downtown. Would stay here again and highly recommend.

A pity owner wasn't around when I stayed there”

            Hospitality of the people

I went to Qin Inn with high expectations as many of the reviewers gave very high scores for this B&B. However, I was a little disappointed when I stayed there mainly because the owner, Chiang Lin, wasn't in Kinmen. When I arrived at around 2.15 pm, the place was locked and I waited outside for around an hour. I tried calling the owner but the line didn't get through (because I was using a China line!). Kinmen people were kind and I was asked 2 times as to why I was standing outside. For the third time, one old lady asked me the same question and told me that the owner had gone back to Taipei and would not be back so soon. In an instance, I panicked, but the lady was kind enough to introduce me another B&B(Shuitou No.53)and the hosts treated me so nicely that I hoped I had booked that place instead. However, I couldn't change the place I stay as I have booked Qin Inn through Agoda and have already paid for the room. I managed to contact the owner, Chiang Lin and was grateful that he upgraded me from a single room to a double room on the first day as I have booked a double room only on day 2 and 3 (My friend could only join me on day 2 and 3). One thing which I was uncomfortable was that the TV was not in the room but in the common area (There is a TV in the room for Shuitou No. 53!!). The water in the bathroom was not hot enough for the first day too, because the neighbour had forgotten to turn on the heater. She was a nice lady and kept apologising to me the second day. I couldn't blame her since she wasn't the owner. All in all, I was a little disappointed with my stay because of these encounters and would prefer to stay in Shuitou No. 53 if I return to Kinmen in the future.

Nice base for exploring Kinmen and Small Kinmen”

            Atmosphere, location, price

Had a nice two night stay, and no mosquito issues as some others wrote about. I didn't think the property was hard to find (use Google Maps and also look at the address signs), but once I arrived it was hard figuring out how to check-in. There are no signs. All the way in the back for the record. Property itself is cool, old style and very scenic. Room was great; very clean and bed was comfy. For me, location was good w/a scooter. Real close to pier. Not close to "town" however, and no food nearby that I could find. But that was fine for me as I went elsewhere to eat. Probably not a good idea to stay here w/o a car or scooter. Would definitely stay here again! I recommend riding through the "bike paths" for some nice scenic routes. You can find them on Kinmen and also Small Kinmen.

            Just like old China”

Friendly staff, beautiful old building, quiet surrounding area

I was only here for one day because I used the this island as a transit point from Mainland China into Taiwan. Kinmen (actually pronounced Jinmen) is a beautiful island that is brimming with historical value. As for the hotel itself, the proprietor was very nice and gave me a tour of the hotel. The staff does not speak much English, but I took Chinese at my university, so I was able to get along fine. Even though the hotel had countermeasures against mosquitos, some still managed to get in and be a nuisance. Keep in mind that Kinmen basically has the same climate as Florida, so it will be hot in the summer. the best time to go is in the fall.

            Beautiful but noisy and pricey”

Beautiful historic building, very comfortable beds, smell of basil plants wafting through

Finding the place was ok during the day, it is pinned exactly on Google maps and we just followed the GPS. It's located in a cute, nearly empty little village on Kinmen with lots of old buildings, exactly what we were looking for. The interior is beautifully redone while retaining the history and charm, and has a really relaxing, breezy feeling with ambient lighting, courtyards, and plants inside including lots of basil which smelled great. The only downside of this old building is that you can hear everything happening in other rooms, so if someone comes home late at night talking it will wake you up. Also, the old wooden doors don't shut completely, and it was really windy when we were there so the door was blowing and making noise all night. I think they staff could easily address this by wedging something in the door but I couldn't find anyone to help in the night. The boss lady doesn't speak English, we communicated ok in Chinese, and there was another young guy there who spoke English and probably could have helped if we needed it. When we booked, Agoda didn't give the option for more than one person, and it wasn't indicated in the room description that there would be extra charges for multiple people. So what I thought was a good value room at US$44 ended up being about US$85 when we added 2 people at the hotel-- a huge difference and nauseating amount of money for us budget travelers. Maybe this would have been worth the price if we could have enjoyed the breakfast, but since it was only from 8:30-9:30 and we had to leave at 8 to catch the ferry, alas, we missed it. And the boss lady was not at all flexible about changing the breakfast time although I explained to her that we had an early ferry. Overall a nice hotel, but maybe not worth the price.

            Price, location and helpful owner

This hotel is located in shiutou township, a traditional town with well-preserved buildings. Very clean and calm. If you have your own transport, it is the best. If not, please keep in mind that this hotel is not in downtown jincheng. Of course there is bus lines which connect the hotel to downtown terminal.

            Good Hotel Stay”

We visited Kinmen last week and stayed in a 3-persons room. While the bathroom and its setup is less than ideal (the shower curtain is awful), we had a vert pleasant stay. The hotel is a truly vintage house if you compare with some of the other recently renovated guest houses. I will not hesitate to stay there if I visit the island again.

I was very welcomed by the staff and surprised of the good hotel standard and very nice rooms. It had the ancient Jinmen style of Chinese tradition. Qin Inn Stay in January”

            1. Location is not far from Shuitou Pier or Bicycle Rental. 2. Showers have lots of hot water and good pressure. 3. Building is very traditional and has lots of character

This inn can be difficult to find, so study its location and pictures on Google Maps before going. It's not far away from the Shuitou Port, maybe 20-30 minutes by walking or 5 minutes by bus. At least in the winter, staff is very limited so you may end up at a completely empty home. However, one of the front doors should still be unlocked and you can wait in the reception in the far back of the building. If you have a Taiwanese SIM card (which I did *not* have), you can call the owner. Be aware that she speaks no English at all. Also be aware that she may not know ahead of time if you booked a room, so don't forget the hotel voucher that Agoda emails to you. The room price was reasonable, but that's probably a low-season price. I'm not sure, but it might be cheaper to book online than to show up without booking ahead of time. Despite the fantastic traditional look of the building, the rooms are quite clean and modern, though without a TV (not a problem for me). They have A/C units on the walls, but they're meant for the summer months, so in the winter in can be a bit chilly. Bathrooms have western toilets and hot showers, thought you may need to wait a couple minutes for the water to warm up. Some rooms have bathrooms included, while others do not, so you may need to use a shared bathroom. Breakfast is served from 8:30-9:30 and is just basic Chinese porridge (粥). I added a few spoons of sugar to make it more palatable :-) Overall, a quiet, modern inn with lots of traditional character and an owner who is friendly though often not available.

            antique house & nice environment

It is a good experience to stay in the Qin Inn which is an antique house with fashionable design, you will feel comfortable while entering the house. Although it is not closed to down town (Kinshing), the bus no. 7 can be taken, every 1 hr departure from 6:30am to 8:30pm, the journey shd be within 15mins. The owner is a nice man who suggest to give him a call before arrival (can give you indication and make sure he is in the house). Only one complaint is the toilet, since no patition, after shower, the floor is completely wet.

            Beautifully restored traditional Fijian house”

Peaceful surroundings, historic village, good for sightseeing and relaxing

The hotel is located a walking distance or a short bus ride to the ferry wharf. There is also a bus that takes you to Jincheng town. Otherwise the village is very tranquil and doesn't offer any shopping or night life. Although the owners are very friendly and helpful, it appears that they do not do enough to inform guests about the facilities at the hotel. As an example, there's Wi-Fi at the hotel (but not in my room!), however there's no easy way to get password info without calling the owner - definitely not something you'd feel like doing in the middle of the night. I also realised later on that the room I booked had breakfast included, it appears the the hotel doesn't offer breakfast or any meals as such, or it was simply not mentioned by the owners. The hotel does however has a common room and kitchen with a stove and fridge if you feel like preparing your own meals. As long as you keep the above in mind, I still think it's an extremely comfortable place to stay and a great base to explore Kinmen. It would be great if the hotel listing on Agoda was adjusted to reflect the reality and to ensure that visitors have appropriate expectations.
