I like everything about River City Hotel for one exception! Breakfast items are very minimal they don't offer much and it's just not all that appetizing or good it's a very cheap breakfast. The only reason I ate breakfast there is because I paid for breakfast. The next time I stay at River City Hotel I will not choose the option of getting breakfast just because the fact that they do not offer much it's very minimal for the price you pay for eating breakfast.

The hotel room we had was clean and roomy. There was no information in the room in English. Our first two morning breakfasts where cooked to order and hot. Our third morning breakfast was of buffet type but everything on the menu was cold because there was no heaters under each dish. The swimming pool was nice and clean and the staff very friendly.

Cleanliness is poor, there are some shampoo bottles from previous use at the bathtub/used tissues at the bed side and drinking water left lipstick a bit (I am not sure they just not changes my glass or the new one is not clean). For room comfort I can excepted with price.

Pretty run-down after just eight years?”
I remember when I've been living in Mukdahan in 2010/2011 they were building this impressive looking hotel tower. Today the rooms in the tower are bretty run-down, showing the cheap building quality and poor maintenance efforts. Totally not worth ~1000 THB, do yourself a favor and get a better looking room with a much cleaner bahtroom for around half that price in a smaller hotel with better ratings on here.

Totally disappointing. Unloved, not maintained, dark, dingy, dirty. Breakfast best avoided. Couldn't stand to be in this hotel - changed room 3 times and all the same sub-standard.

Overpriced and not worth a stay”
The lobby is beautiful, but the rooms are tired and worn. The bathrooms were terrible. The hot water wasn't running in our room, or only as a trickle. The worst place we stayed in during our trip. Would not go again.

Nice rooms, helpful staff and reasonable location”
The original River City Hotel where I stayed in a standard room sits right in front (shared entry lobby and reception area) of a 15 storey brand new hotel with a revolving restaurant on top. Opening for the new hotel is early 2012 but I'm not sure if this means the older section is due for demolition or renovation. The older rooms are still nice with solid timber floors and lovely furniture. The bathrooms have good hot water and the Air Conditioning and refrigerator were all working well. Limited english channels on the cable TV though but enough to get some news and entertainment. There is a bicycle rental shop directly opposite the hotel that rents good mountain bikes at reasonable prices

We stayed there for two nights and we do not like the breakfast in which they offer in the morning it is very poor and they do not offer very many entrees for you to eat from for the price it's not worth it they have one type of bread white bread only they don't have wheat or rye bread. I had stayed at the Plaza Hotel and they offer a wide variety of entrees for their breakfast it is very nice. But we do not like the rooms at the pool boy Hotel and the area is not very good for us because we cannot find things that we are looking for the area at River City offers a wide variety of shops to go and to eat from which is very good this is one of the reasons why we like River City besides the Room which are very clean.

It's OK”
This hotel is located on good location, that you can see good view of Thailand, Mekong River and Loas. It's located near Indochina Market, besides in front of the hotel, it has convenience store. If you want to eat dinner, I recommend a good taste and cheap restaurant on the 16th floor, where you can see a perfect view of Mukdahan, Mekong river and Loas, moreover this floor can move slowly around itself. However, I didn't impress about little menu of breakfast :(

Helpful staff and nice (older style) rooms”
the river city hotel is undergoing major changes with a brand new 15 (or more) storey building with revolving restaurant on top due to open early in 2012. currently (nov and december 2011) the old 4 storey section of the hotel is used for accommodation. the rooms are getting old but are still quite nice, solid timber floors, good quality fixtures and fittings and decent bathrooms. the wifi reception is good. there are 2 free bottles of water per day and the ammenities are replaced everyday. the new hotel will have a swimming pool, which was in the process of being completed during my stay.

Great value for money”
Great place to stay if you are budget conscious. No English spoken by reception staff except the duty manager. But, this was not a problem. Standard room very clean if a little tired, but what do you expect for the price. Would very happily stay again. There is no airport in Mukdahan, so VIP bus is recommended.
