The Duke Hotel: Great hotel, inconvenient location”

Clean, comfortable, well-decorated rooms and bathrooms. Excellent breakfast buffet. Helpful staff.

My family of four stayed three nights at The Duke Hotel in Rome earlier this month. Overall I was very pleased with our decision to stay there. The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms are quite nice, the breakfast was very good, and the price was quite reasonable for a quad. I would stay again. The only real downside of the hotel is its location. It's in the middle of a largely residential district a couple of kilometers northeast of Piazza Popolo. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the Piazza Popolo, but in practice it books up a day or more in advance if you want to use it to get start your day of sightseeing. So you have two choices: (a) taxi or (b) public transportation. My family initially went with option (b), but that requires taking a very hot/uncomfortable local train to the Euclide stop and walking ten minutes. Using taxis would have been wiser, if a bit costlier (but not too bad since the Duke isn't that far out).

Nice Hotel, Staff with great hospitality attitude.”

Clean room, lobby nice decor, wonderful staff attitude.

My first trip to Italy and my first stop in Rome. From the moment I check in and during my stay, all the staff I met were wonderful, always very helpful. Alessandro who check me in, was very helpful and offers advise on everything to make my stay and visit a memorable one in Rome. He also took the effort to help me with my forward hotel booking in Florence. Good ambassador for Duke hotel and Rome. Luigi who drove us on the free shuttle from hotel to city centre is another friendly staff , treating us like family. Both these two gentleman are very passionate about their job, valuable 'asset ' in hospitality industry.

      wonderful hotel”

We stayed in Duke hotel on our first visit to Rome and we were not disappointed. Staff were excellent making sure our stay was enjoyably. Rooms spotless, great breakfast. Free shuttle bus is great idea as hotel is outside city but this does not matter as bus gets you there in five minutes. The only negative comment was WiFi connection in our room didn't work and free smart phone didn't cover Ireland.

The hotel was large, the staff was friendly, and the rooms were comfortable. Not your typical cramped room European hotel. It is away from the tourist traps yet close enough to walk to everything, except for Vatican area. The hotel is the best I've stayed in all of Rome. Even the bathroom was superb with plenty of room. The breakfast was also very good and provided a lot of choices. I can't wait to stay here again

      Very good hotel”

I would recommend this hotel in Rome. Very clean rooms, heating worked well, free shuttle was very helpful since is no metro close and the pubkic bus is a bad option since it runs one an hour. Take their free shuttle. Saves your time. I had an economy room which was a bit small. I am sure they have larger rooms too. Bathroom was large and we'll equipped. Very good breakfast and fresh coffee like espresso or cappuccino. Staff was friendly and helpful. I will stay here again. I had a very nice experience with this hotel. Thank you all for a nice stay.

      Brilliant hotel, staff and location.”

The hotel is slightly out of the city but one stop using the urban railway (10 min walk) and you can catch the metro to all over Rome. But there are plenty of his stops everywhere. The hotel itself we couldn't fault. The staff, facilities, room and breakfast were excellent. We would stay here again and gladly recommend it to others.

      Great value”

If your business is in the same area as this hotel it's absolutely perfect. Really nice hotel, not a lot of facilities outside of the rooms & restaurant although there is an agreement with the local spa. The basic rooms are quite small and without AC switched on, the room was very hot at night. I would def return but would make sure I booked a larger room. The free shuttle bus to the town edge and back is a great service, make sure you book the return journey or a taxi will cost 10 Euros.

Not a 4 star hotel but nice enough as a base”

Pros. Located in quiet, safe area. Good breakfast - the prosecco was an inspired touch. Free shuttle bus into centre. Cons. Being away from the action might be a disappointment for some. No bar - though a drinks table with an excellent choice of spirits was laid up in the lounge. Bed uncomfortable - mattress and pilows too hard (that's subjective though), 'double' mattress was two adjoined singles and you are aware of the join. Overall, okay for a few nights but not a week's stay or longer. We split our stay: at The Duke for business and a central apartment for a few extra days vacation.

      Great Place. Great Staff. ”

Everything is fantastic! Staff is very accommodating. Transportation to and from is perfect. The only minor complaint is that they really need to work on the air conditioning in the building. They control it from the front desk and it just doesn’t feel cool. They had to bring us up a fan. They need to work on this. Other than that. The place is great!

      Reasonable comfortable ”

      Clean close to park

This is a four star hotel with motel service standard. It is located in a very inconvenient area; no Metro or other public transportations as well as shops nearby. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable. They provided Wi-Fi but it was very inconvenience since we need to get the password three times during out four days stay through the SMS from our local country number Ridiculou the hotel staff suggested calling the toll free in order to get the Wi-Fi password since we didn’t use our phone roaming but at the end of our stay, they wanted to charge us for connection phone service. The front desk staff was very unfriendly, rude and not polite. Room service was also poor, they took away the bath rope without replacement. The funniest thing was that the cleansing staff took our TV remote control with the dirty bed sheet without finding out until we called. We definitely will not going back to this hotel again for our trip to Rome next time.

      An Unusual Choice”

Nice people, nice rooms, nice residential neighborhood with not a pizza place or a -- practically anything -- nearby. (Great breakfast buffet.) But if you're coming to room for the bustle and local flavor and sight-seeing -- or just about any other reason -- this is an unusual choice. Yes, you can reserve a seat on the free shuttle bus -- but, well, with so many others to choose from that are NEAR things, this was an odd choice.

      Comfort, location, good economic value

I found the rooms very comfortable and the food excellent. The staff were friendly and, while not close to the center of town, the shuttle was convenient.

      Horrible location!!”

This hotel would be very nice if it weren't located so far from everything. You must take the hotel's shuttle bus just to get to the Metro (a 10 minute ride) and then take the Metro to get anywhere. We wasted at least 45 minutes each direction. And the return is worse, as you must call them for a pick-up, which means you must go somewhere where there is Wi-fi (a cafe, and then buy coffee or something) to call, and then rush to time it just right. On top of that, the pick-up spot is in a dark deserted spot (no stores, nothing) with no where at all to sit!! The worst part of a two week trip.

      Quite good”

Good breakfast, quiet hotel, some service was good and some really bad. Only italian channels which is a shame. No duvet, only sheets. Really expensive parking. Nice area though.
